Who Was 'Rube'?
As the Mains were coming together and forming in the Fall of 2003, one aspect that was most interesting was the historical research done on the teams of old who played in Trenton. In that process, the Mains were presented with a mystery - an old photo was brought to the Mains that had been saved from the trash heap by a Trenton citizen. The photo was assumed to be of a local ball player, circa 1900. Lefty Leifield

One of the sponsors of several teams in the area around the late 1800’s was known to be the 'Star Brewery.' The picture was printed with a description in the Trenton Sun, the town's newspaper, but no one came forward to say who the player was. The back of the photo had the name "Rube" lightly written across the back. The uniform "Rube" wears sports a large 'T' and a star.
To this day, no one knows exactly who Rube was. Was he a local player? Does he have relatives still in the area? Where and when was the picture taken?
Who is Rube and what is the rest of his story? Tell us if you know!
