MATCH RECAP: July 20, 2004 - vs. St. Louis Perfectos
Mains And Perfectos Play A Match At GMC Stadium

The Trenton Mains played an exhibition match last week at GMC stadium in Sauget. The Mains were invited to play a match against the St. Louis Perfectos as an exhibition prior to the Grizzlies game. Although the setting was the complete opposite of where a vintage game is typically set, it was none the less a fun event.

The Mains, who have been growing in numbers, fielded some new players. Jeff 'Peanut' Kohlbrecher, and Matt 'The Kid' Black saw action for the first time.
Highlights of the game were over-the- shoulder running (at least we believe he was running...) catch by Ken 'Groundhog' Meddows and a rare double play started by Derek 'Crazy Legs' Brandmeyer to Keiren 'Corndog' Zeisset.
All the Mains contributed at the bat with the winning run scoring in their last at bat. The Mains scored the winning tally just prior to the groundkeeper chasing the teams from the field so he could ready it for the pros. This time-shortened game win leaves the Mains with a 5 win 1 loss record to date.
The Mains get an opportunity to avenge their only loss this Sunday when the Rock Springs ground Squirrels visit Trenton. This is the first and perhaps the only game to be played in Trenton in 2004. Game time is 1:00 for the match, which will be two seven-inning games.
After a long search the Mains have found a site for the vintage match. They will be playing on an open field just to the west of the New Life Christian Center on the north side of Trenton. The New Life Center has graciously granted permission to the Mains to use the field. The site is ideal for vintage play as it is a large open unrefined field and features a large willow tree in the deep outfield area.
Those of you who come to watch the game are reminded that you must bring lawn chairs, no alcoholic beverages are permitted, and rest room facilities are limited. The Mains also ask that you respect the adjacent property owned by Chris Arensten, which houses his horse training facility.

The Mains greatly appreciate the cooperation of both Mr. Arentsen and Mr. Wutzler in helping the Mains hold this match. Huzzah to them both!
